On these two beauts we swapped the glass for chicken wire, added the wainscotting in the back, added new hardware & pretty off-white paint with light distressing.

Stupid Splinters

OK, so I get a lot of splinters. A LOT.  And every time I debate with myself . . . which is worse?

Big, painful, stick gouging my hand splinters

 . . . or  . . .

 itsy, bitsy, hard to find but I can feel them splinters. 

Well today the debate ended.

I know what is the worst.

Dozens of itsy bitsy splinters in an impossible to reach by myself spot . . . I brushed up against an old wooden door with the top of my arm. Looks like the hubby will be doing some surgery tonight!!

 Thanks for joining my pity party . . . now back to making furniture.

Not sure what the exact definition of paradise is . . . but hunting for tadoles in crystal clear mountain water with your precious babies is pretty darn close.

The apprentice has become a Jedi

After much understudy I think I have achieved acceptable paint booth skills.  My first two pieces are complete and here is a sampling of what I am working on. Neither of the tables have been claimed yet either. Please excuse my wonderful photography skills too. :)

Own a piece of Paint in My Hair History

Okay not as cool as history, but this is the piece that started it all and created PIMH. This Moody Blue dresser is solid pine and I (her DH?) bought it thinking I could make it all boyish for my boy's room. Yea, didn't work. So in swoops my lovely and talented wife and this is how she resurrected my disaster. The rest is, well, history. We just upcycled a new to us bed for our oldest boy and it had built in drawers and there really isn't room for this anymore. The dresser is in the store today.

Paint in My Hair - Hijacked

Jessica has left town for the week so her "DH", which I thought meant Designated Hitter has hijacked the blog and the store.  As her last post states, she's not responsible for what happens while she's gone. :) So my first two projects of the week are this amazing Pennsylvannia House table with two leafs and four matching "chunky chairs" and an old phone table/sitting chair. I am even reupholstering the seat. That's right, her DH. The fabric isn't really attached yet so colors and fabric options are still available.  The table is also available for painting your favorite shade of wonderful.  Did I just say that? A bedroom redo . . . and a reminder

My own Bedroom makeover!

So, while my hubby had the kids away for the week I decided to use Sunday to redo my bedroom.

 First Disclaimer: My paint gun and I have a long and complicated relationship. I know just how far I can push the little sucker. Please don't go and try to paint your furniture in your bedroom with paint gun unless you know exactly what your over spray range is!! I don't want to hear about someone painting their carpet burnt umber.  ;p

So here's the Before pic

As I've told many of you I don't really decorate my own room since my kids destroy EVERYTHING. So I figure if I don't have a house I'm trying to keep perfect, I won't get mad when they mess it up!!

So before pic: a lot of boring mid-brown wood stuff.

I'm sorta an "it's easier to get forgiveness than permission" sort of gal. So I didn't consult the hubby on color choice! He'll just have to like it.

 This is round one of decorating. Next on the list is a new fancy bedpost--the foot painted ivory and the headboard upholstered with ivory velvet type fabric. 

  And 24 hours after my children get home . . . Head missing. Oh, Yeah! That's why I had been storing her away since my mom gave one each to the twins when they were 6 months old. And that is why I don't bother to decorate my house. Any guesses how often I have to strip the couch covers off and wash them . . . ;)
