A little Bling

OK, so I'll be the first to admit it. I'm sorta addicted. Just Sorta.

I really like silver leaf.
Really.

Lucky for me, my new found obsession coincides with two custom orders needing a little bling, bling.

Oh, sweet serendipity. ;)

Here's a little bombe dresser redone with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Paris Grey on the body, Paris Grey & Old White Striae on the drawers, and Graphite underneath silver leafing on the details.
The entire piece was triple waxed--first Annie Sloan Clear Soft Wax to seal it, Dark Soft Wax to antique it, and another coat of Clear Soft Wax to finish it up!

Purty, Purty!

Thanks for stopping by!
Jessica

  2. Thanks for bringing my vision to fruition! All those classes and training have paid off and I'm a lucky recipient. This beauty will be proudly displayed in our Guest Room. That's 2 now of Jess masterpieces in my home. The first piece get's many compliments and I can only imagine how much this new re-purposed bombe' will be admired. It was so dark and heavy before now it's the blingy jewel in the crown she was meant to be(-; It made the marble top special instead of lost in a sea of gold and mahogony heaviness.
    Thanks Jess, another gold star***
    Blessings, Renee

  16. Did you use real silver leaf? What kind of size do you use? Last, did you use dark wax over the leaf? It is spectacular. I want to do my chest the same! Thanks!

  19. Love this piece - want to copy colors but am baffled about - Old White "Striae". I get Old White is the color but what is Striae?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I was wondering the same thing about "Straie"? What exactly is that? Annie Sloan does not make a color named Straie

  21. straie is a paint effect i think http://paintinmyhair.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/striae-gray-table-with-red-damask.html

  22. Gorgeous! So for the handles and details, you first painted them in black, then put the silver leafing over them? And is it silver leafing (the sheets) or is it a wax? Have not done either... Any tutorials?
